The role of lock signal
A lock light is a lighting device installed along waterways to guide boats through a lock. Located near the lock chamber, it indicates to users the lock’s operating status and the conditions for passage.
This system uses a simple color code:
- Green indicates that passage is permitted.
- Red means that access is prohibited.
- The combination of red and green signals an ongoing movement, such as the opening or closing of the gates.
The number, arrangement, and meaning of the lights may vary according to the regulations of different waterways. In some cases, additional lights may be added to warn of a temporary closure or technical intervention, such as a flashing red light.
A product manufactured in our workshop
As specialists in river signaling, we design and manufacture this type of light, which consists of a triangular aluminum housing equipped with four 200 mm diameter LED modules: two red, one orange, and one green. Each light has 95 LEDs.
The housing, typically 1400 x 1400 mm, is also available in custom sizes. Its black front is highlighted with a white border for enhanced visibility.
Power supply and mounting
Installation is done on a pole using rear rails, clamps, or brackets (optional). This equipment can be powered by 24V or 230V, with an average consumption of 15 watts per light.
