What is a lock light ? What is used for ?
Lock signal lights or navigation lights are used on waterways.
They are lighting systems designed to inform navigators of the status of the lock and navigation conditions. These devices are generally installed on one or both sides of the lock, near the lock chamber.
It operates using three main colors:
- Green: the lock gate is open, passage is authorized;
- Red: the lock gate is closed, passage is prohibited;
- Red and green simultaneously: the gate is opening or closing.
In addition to these signals, some lights may display specific light patterns.
For example, a flashing red light may indicate that a lock is undergoing maintenance or is temporarily closed for safety reasons.
Manufactured in our workshop
TRAFIC is a manufacturer of river navigation aids, in particular lock lights and lock chamber lights.
This lock light consists of a triangular aluminum box and three D300mm LED lights: two red and one green. Each light has 172 LEDs. The number and position of the lights depend on the rules applied on different canals.
The standard size of the box is 1400 x 1400 mm. This product is available in different sizes and can be made to special dimensions. The front is painted black with a white strip.
Mounting and power supply
This lock light can be mounted on a pole using rear rails with clamps or brackets. Poles and clamps are sold separately. The power supply is 24 or 230V. Each 300mm diameter light consumes an average of 15 watts.
The light source is easily accessible from the front: the lens is held in place by three tabs and the light source by three screws.
