Operating principle
The Sentinel radar speed sign is supplied fully configured, allowing immediate deployment after installation. Simply switch the unit on, and it will function independently without requiring operator supervision.
Its intelligent display logic is the result of more than two decades of experience in speed awareness technology:
- Vehicles traveling within the permitted speed range are shown with a green numeric display
• When a vehicle exceeds the authorized limit, the speed-reading switches to a red LED display with enhanced visual emphasis
• If a higher preset threshold is reached, the numeric speed disappears and a clear “Slow Down” warning replaces it
This built-in prevention feature reduces the temptation for drivers to compete with the display, contributing to safer driving habits.
The flashing visual effect further improves noticeability, ensuring drivers quickly recognize and respond to the warning.
Mounting recommendations and electrical supply
For accurate detection and optimal visibility, the unit should be installed on the right side of the roadway, ideally on a straight and level section. The front panel must face approaching traffic and remain vertically aligned.
Recommended positioning parameters:
• Install the lower edge of the display at a height between 2.20 meters and 3.00 meters
• Keep at least 1 meter of clearance between the road boundary and the sign
• A lateral offset of approximately 1.40 meters from the roadway is considered ideal
Mounting hardware and power configuration will depend on the specific installation environment.
The radar speed sign can operate continuously when connected to a standard 230V electrical source. Connection is achieved using a 230VAC to 12VDC power converter, which supplies regulated power directly to the display system.
