Signage in tunnels

Trafic manufactures illuminated signage for emergency exits and safety niches in tunnels. The boxes are equipped with LED lighting solutions and are manufactured in standard sizes or to order.

Signage in tunnels is crucial because incidents in tunnels are much more difficult to resolve than those in the open air. Emergency exits allow users to evacuate the tunnel to a place where toxic fumes can be effectively prevented. They lead to underground galleries that open to the outside. To make them easy to find, these emergency exits are marked with green boxes with a white pictogram representing a person running.

Other complementary equipment

Signs and panels enabling road users to locate emergency exits, emergency call points, and fire extinguishers must therefore be simple and visible in order to be effective.

• Backlit signs for tunnels: these signs are available in a range of formats. The first shows a person using an emergency exit, while the second shows an SOS telephone and a red fire extinguisher. They are equipped with a retro-reflective film that makes them visible thanks to vehicle headlights.
• The tunnel marker post: this IP67-rated waterproof post is equipped with LEDs and is used for illuminated marking of road and highway tunnel walls. It indicates the safety distance to be maintained by road users.
